Broadcast Journalism

Today we had a speaker come into our class to talk to us about Broadcast and Radio Journalism. His name is Dave D. We were put in groups of three and given flip cams to go out around campus and shoot stories. My group went out and took video of the different projects that are being built around the school. We took video of the new fire lane that is being built and the new Tablot building that is being finished. We also interviewed one of the construction workers who was working on the Tablot building. Ryan Lunde, one of the people in our group talked on camera about the new structures and projects that are being constructed around campus. It was exciting to go out and actually see news in person and record it for ourselves.

Article Review

I have finished the article that I was gonna write on Hispanic students at Biola. Originally I was going to write about Latino Heritage month but I came across an event that will be happening in October and I was interested in it. Latino Heritage month is over and this new Latino Worship night is being organized. I decided to do it on this worship night instead. I like how my article came out because I got to talk about the perspective of  Latino students but I wish I could have talked more about the event than the way students feel in general about being Latinos at this school. Overall it was a good experience and I enjoyed writing it.

Latino Heritage Month

For our assignment due on October 17th we have to write an article on current events. I am going to write about Latino Heritage month. I would like to write about this because I am a Latina here at Biola University and I would like to write a story showing the perspective of the Latino community. The Latino Heritage month events focus on the Hispanic community and helps integrate and make Hispanic students feel more at home on campus. I think that we as a community should be united always, not just on this month, but it is a nice way of emphasizing that we do have a community that is diverse and full of different backgrounds, histories, elasticities, races and most importantly stories. But here at Biola we are all united by the love of God.
